need wireless home network expert

hi all, im trying to set up a wireless home network so my pcs can communicate with eachother, ive done the wireless network setup in control panel using a usb flash drive etc,no luck, it tells me this (depending on the wireless software running on this pc ,wirless set up wizard might not work, for details look here) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/871122
i have followed microsofts instructions on booth pcs but am getting knowhere on this. booth pcs are on xp3,both have the same belkin usb network adapters pluged in and both pcs connect to the router and get on the net using wi-fi without any problems, looking at microsofts advice, dose this mean im missing some software.they are belkin g+usb adapters and ive installed them using the installation software that came with them, can any one shed some light on this and thanks in advance.

Hi, have you set up your router to accept wireless? You dont need to do the usb thing. Does the PC have a wireless card? Is it enabled? (forgot to do that once my self) This link might help http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u.../wireless.mspx

Question

how do i enable my wireless card?

I was on vista (came with the new computer), and i just recently re-formatted my hard drive, so now I am on XP. But my built in wireless card has the orange light (disabled) on.

I am assuming theres a driver for my wireless card, but I don't know where to get that.

PS I am on an HP Pavillion

hi Monty007,yes,both have the same belkin usb network adapters pluged in and both pcs connect to the router and get on the net using wi-fi without any problems,as stated in my post. my problem is that i cant get the 2 pcs to connect to each other using wi-fi instead of cable, there is no problem with my router or getting on the net using wi-fi so they should be able to talk to each other,im lost on this one mate.

hi TheMagicalHindu, youre supposed to start a new thread if youre question is different to the original post because people loose track of the qustion in the first instant. but yes it sounds like you have lost the drivers for youre card, download this http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html then copy and paste the result to to youre question, start a new thread in xp on this forum and im sure some one will be able to help, good luck.

Sorry mate that is what 12 hour night shifts do to you working in IT!
Both PCs must have the same workgroup name, enable file sharing on both, go to the run box on one and type in the name of the other PC..
\\pc name
hit enter.
If you have set up usernames and passwords on both they will not talk either.
