Question Icon changed on me!

I have Windows XP Professional, I downloaded some software one day, and the My (C:) Drive Icon changed to an applications icon and when you double-click on it, It brings up the search box...I own a Hewlett Packard if this makes any difference.

system hardware spec

any Patches / Service Packs to the Operating System

what software you downloaded prior to your discrepancy

what anti-virus software you are running

What was the game demo and what site did you download from?

I would strongly advise you to get some Anti-Virus software installed ASAP (like yesterday) before you go any further!

try this site

Did you delete or uninstall the game?

I think that you may have installed into the root of your 'C Drive'. This will make the system think that the 'C Drive' is like a CD ROM Drive.

The search window is coming up because effectively there is no disk in the drive because you have deleted it.

I think you may have to do some registry tweaking - not my field I'm afraid.

You may prefer to use System Restore if you have a good Restore point.
