HP 2300C - after Unistall its still alive

After un-installtion of the HP 2300C scanner from my WIN XP pro I installed another Scanner - Canon Lide20.

When I try to scan using the Canon scanner - i get an erorr saying "Cannot find HP Scanning Software"

The "HP Scanning software" was uninstalled already.

I contacted HP support and removed all Registry entries they instructed. Still same problem. I REGEDITed again and removed other SCANJET / HP Scann related entried. still same problem.

Anyone can help on where XP / HP stores the pointer to the "HP scanning software ?

How can I remove this pointer or to force the new Canon software to be invoked on the Scan operation ?

Forgot to mention that ALL operations from the Canon scanner are not working.

Also - Testing the device from Control Panel / Scanners works fine.

What App are you using to scan? Could be that the scanner is still associated with the software that you are using to scan.

that's exactly the problem. I don't know how to get rid of this HP scanning program which is not there anymore...

the canon was installed completly OK and shoyld work with its own software - exactly what do not happen.

So you are launching the cannon software to scan? I usually only have problems with scanner software residue when I am trying to scan from a 3rd party photo software editor. IE MS Photo Editor et al.

If I could only know where Canon / HP hides the name of the program to invoke when Scan is required... Looks like its a secret... lol

Resolved !

uninstall all scanning software and DELETE folder and files with TWAIN* in their name !

That's the place where the default scanning interface is stored.


HP support in the US never heard about it....
