I have a strange problem. When I start up Windows XP Professional on my Toshiba Satellite (Laptop) the computer literally freezes in its place. The boot screen where the blue progress bar moves just freezes and the progress bar is just suspended. So I started up in Safe Mode. In Safe Mode I tryed reinstalling Windows XP Professional. Everything went fine until I had to restart computer. Then, when I chose "Microsoft Windows XP Professional Setup" at the screen where you choose your specified operating system. It went well until it froze at "Preparing Installation". Then I had no choice but to shut down. I restarted computer and pressed F8 to view advanced start up options. I then enabled VGA mode. When I continued with the Setup it did the same thing. So then I restarted, enabled VGA mode, and chose "Microsoft Windows XP Professional" from the screen where you choose operating system. Everything went fine. (I even bypassed the splash screen w/ progress bar fine!) Then it comes up with the screen where it checks your disk for consistency. It made it all the way up to about 50% when it tells me that a file has been truncated. Then a few moments later, another file has been truncated. Then it says a file has some "cross" with another file. (All of these files are from Windows\System32\, and have long numbers as names.) Then it just stops at around 65%. Then the percentage disappears. I can hear the computer working and see the hardrive light flickering...but it just stops. So I restart. Then I decide not to enable VGA mode. I just choose "Microsoft Windows XP Professional" and skip the disk check. It is about to load the logon screen. It starts doing something and it just freezes. All black with my mouse cursor frozen in time.

So now I can only access Safe Mode, and even then I see a bunch of files load and it gets stuck on Mup.sys. Then it finally loads. I tried continuing the installation of "Microsoft Windows XP Professional Setup" but it keeps freezing on the "Preparing Installation" part. (The progress bar is about a quarter of the way complete.) HELP!! (All my Flash files (.FLA) are on my laptop!)
