Question NO SOUND: ran Belarc advisor, please look

Hi everyone,

Months ago I reinstalled XP and lost all sound capability. Here is what I got when I ran Belarc, please advise:

it may not be evident here, but under multimedia, it says, "None detected". I have already checked and the jack into which I plug the speakers leads to a small silver box that seems attached to the motherboard, not a removable sound card.

Any help would be appreciated. My son is in marching band I would love to watch his show but I cannot hear the music.
