Help-No Sound on Laptop
hey, im new, ive been through ure website and i find it very helpful
ive come with a problem that i need assitance with
it seems everytime i start the laptop, the sound is gone...i mena the starting sounds, and all of the system sounds work, but the windows media player and one of my games do not have sound..neither does the internet videos (youtube)
these are the error messages i recieve from windows media player

"Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly"


i also recently recovered from a spyware attack..ill pst details on that later ..and also i have an 'AV control panle built into the laptop, allowing volume control from the panel..this is not helping to increase the volume, and the volume mark is forever frozen at 1..help please! ill answer any questions u have..also an error continues to come up when i turn on the computer, i write what it says on the next post..ill also post my belarc advisor report in the next post..i would also like to note, that my audio device has been updated to the latest driver...any help would be appreciated

did you install this driver from realtek http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...tDown=false#AC

check these out

Check Control Panel/ Sound & Audio Devices/ Audio tab/ Sound Playback click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be they something like "modem line 0 playback" might have been substituted for the proper audio device

Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Component Services / a separate window will open – in left pane click Services(Local) from the tree / Scroll down to Windows Audio service / if the service is Disabled or Manual right click > select Properties > under Startup Type change to Automatic > click Apply / click Start > OK Reboot

Set a System Restore Point before installing just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore – click radio button Create a restore point and follow instructions
