Ethernet Controller Driver/Modem will not work...

I'm trying to connect my broadband modem (UK) to my PC, but I can only connect it by USB. When I try it with the ethernet cable provided it doesn't work. I think the problem is with the PC i bought it from someone who completely formatted it... it didn't have the most basic of drivers or software.

When I go to device manager "Ethernet Controller" appears under the "Other Devices" menu ith a yellow question mark.

The status inside says:

"The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver."

But when I go through this process windows can't find any drivers from the net and of course I dont have a CD.

Under the driver tab everything basically says "not available" and there is no driver to roll back to etc.

I got hold of these details from Belarc and the word ethernet doesnt even appear?

The Ethernet Controller, and any other device, will not appear in the belarc report if the driver is missing. But what it does show is the make & model of the motherboard on which the ethernet controller is mounted. It's the manufacturer of the motherboard which can supply the driver, and it will be available on their website.

(incidentally, when you go through the update or install driver wizard in Device Manager, Windows only checks the Microsoft website not third-party websites. When no driver is found it merely means that the Microsoft website does not have it).

The Intel Ethernet driver (otherwise called a LAN driver) for your Intel D845GRG motherboard is here:
