Generic Host process for Win32 has encountered a problem and needs to close

I have been getting this error message after running Avg and getting a file called

Boot sector of Disk --- change

the specific error signature is
svAppname: svhost.exe svAppVer: 5.1.2600.2180 szModName: unknown szModVer: 0.0.0.0 offset: 013e101c

the technical information about the error is:
C:\DOCUME~1\DAVIDL~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERea36.dir00\s vhost.exe.mdmp
C:\DOCUME~1\DAVIDL~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERea36.dir00\a ppcompat.txt

I am unable to do a system restore for some reason. I have tried to restore my computer to several different previous dates, but when i click the final "Next" it just sits there.

Pls help. I have tried everything i can think of.

Hi, these look like dump files from when you had a problem. To eliminate any nasties go to this site, update and run a full scan. The free version.
