Question Lock-up monitoring software

Hi...

My question is : Would there be software available to
monitor a computer, so that when the computer locks-up
for any reason, the software would contain the
infortmatiion on the cause of the problem.

Thanks
Benji

If you want software that tells you in plain english I think you are going to be disappointed.

What is wrong with the fault monitoring and reporting system within XP?

XP has a built in Monitoring and Reporting application that monitors and reports malfunctions in your computer systems.

A lot of times this info is not 'very readable' because it is written for the Microsoft developers in a very technical language.

In other words you will not see reports such as ...

Solitaire crashed the system because Outlook was downloading an email that was saved to an area on the hard disk used by ....

If any such program was available the developer would become a very rich person in a short space of time.

There are some 'Off the Shelf' utilities which work in a similar way to the XP app but are designed to report to software and hardware vendors.

Only thing I can think of along that line is the crash protection Ontracks System Suite offers. It is supposed to sense an impending crash and make the necessary changes. I was not all that impressed.

Benji, I was reading through your system stats, and I noticed you only have a 250 watt ps. I used to have a 250 watt Ps, and my computer crashed all the time. Upgraded to a 350 watt, and it hasnt crashed since. Maybe you should try that. If it fails, Sue mel.
