I have a program that cost me $1500 that I really like but it used a dongle as a security device when I was using win98se, I had a guy figure out how to bypass the security dongle (who I cannot find now) by patching the program to change the signal back from the printer port where the dongle was and change the signal to the one needed for the program to continue to work, and it works fine on win98se, well my problem is now I use winxp and apparently it handels the printer port differently and the program is not able to change the signal from the printer port because it no longer works the same as it did in win98. '
My question is is there a virtual printer port driver that simulates the way win98se accessed the printer port? Also is there a virtual printer port for my laptop that does not have a printer port? Because I would like this to work on the laptop as well. Also if anyone knows of a way to eliminate a aladden hasp style dongle I still have this program without the patch in it so that might be a possable solution too, because I am not going to pay the company for a new program that isn't any different than this one but it uses a usb dongle for a aditional $900 bucks, a company that will do that to its customers without making an effort to correct the problem for a lot less when the customer pays that much for the program in the first place. I will go to another company and learn a different program before I will let a company soak me so much for a problem that is their mistake in the first place.
Can some one help? If you might need the program and the patch that got it to work on win98se to see if you can get it to work on winxp without the dongle I can make arrangements to get you a copy to work on. By the way I can use the program on vmwares virtual machine running 98 in it, but I don't want to take the time to load another OS everytime I need to use it, or waste all that space and resources as well.
