Question Default Audio

Hi Bookworm

'can you check this to see if Via is default audio

Check Control Panel/ Sound & Audio Devices/ Audio tab/ Sound Playback click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be they something like "modem line 0 playback" might have been substituted for the proper audio device'

Thank you. I have already checked this and Via Audio is selected as default audio.

Set a System Restore Point before installing just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore – click radio button Create a restore point and follow instructions

Unhappy Chipset Driver

Hello again Bookworm

Despite all your best efforts the laptop is still without sound.

I installed the chipset driver, rebooted, reinstalled the audio driver and then rebooted. Still no sound.

I'm going to have to leave it until I come back from two weeks holiday starting this coming Saturday. I shall still be on the internet but won't be taking the sick laptop with me. Maybe I'll have some bright idea in the meantime.

Again thanks for all your help and sorry to have taken up so much of your time.

Regards

Disaster
