Windows 98 INTERNET WONT WORK!!

i have windows 98 (crappy comp...dont worry i have a super fast comp w/ XP), but it doesnt seem to want 2 connect to the internet. I tried dial-up and DSL, but when i connect the hardware, it wont connect to any internet applications (like IE, Outlook or AIM). its like the internet hardware is connected, but the OS cant detect the connection. Any ideas to fix this problem is appreciated....thanx

First thing is First,, You should post your Windows 98 problem in proper location (hint hint Windows 98 section).. Secondly, you have to explain what your problem IS,, just saying Windows 98 Internet doesn't work is not going to help us understand ?
How do you have your windows 98 computer connected to internet / ISP ? Does other system do proxy or DHCP for you ? do you have in connected properly ? Are you using HUB, Switch, Router or anything like that ?

Other than that, call your ISP, it's impossible for us to tell what the problem is with the info you gave, especially since the same problem spans multiple connections.
