XP licensing problem

is there a way to turn off the music licensing protection, or at least get by it somehow? since I switched hard drives and installed XP Pro I've been unable to play some of the music that I copied and was able to play with ME.

dsrmlg ,,,, Music Licensing !!!!! Are you using Windows Media Player to listen to your songs ? when do you usually get this music licensing nitification from your computer ?

Have you tried other software ? there are tones of them out there ?

I will wait for your reply, I really want to know if this message /notofication is coming form you Windows XP or other application, I haven;t seen it before.

I use Windows Media Player 9.0 sometimes to listen to my music, but it's not the only program that gives me problems. I usually use Winamp, but they don't play with that program either.

The notification only comes when I try to play the songs, it skips past the ones without licenses and sends me to a microsoft help page that doesn't really help.

I haven't been able to get it working with other programs, but really would like to get it to work with media player and winamp, as I use those most often.

Open Windows Media player, go to Tools / Options / then go to Player Tab and uncheck the "Acquire License Automatically". Since you are in option section go to "Media Library" Tab and set the access right to Internet to "No Access" and Access right to other applications to "Read Only"

I don't think that's going to do anything, 'cause the licenses are stored on the machine itself. Therefore, no matter what access the program has to the internet the licenses need to be able to be located on the local machine.
