My DVD ROM doesn't work
I have a problem with my dvd rom, not reading any of the discs I put in it. It runs and spins but nothing comes up on the screen. I go to my computer and it shows the drive is there but when I try to right click on it to open the disc it won't let me. I am also not able to save cd's to my computer anymore either. I have been combing the forums looking for a solution to this problem. I have seen a couple of things about removing upper and lower filters in the regedit to solve a problem like this but, i'm not sure exactly what that will do and am a bit afraid to try it. Can someone explain what upper and lower filters are, where they come from and why removing them may help? Also when I followed one of the tutorials on this and looked for the filters I didnt see any filter. i am using Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]. please help me.
