Program Compatibility Wizard might solve your problem
(If you are experiencing problems with a program that worked correctly on an earlier version of Windows, this wizard helps you select and test compatibility settings that may fix those problems.)

Start > All Programs > Accessories > Program Compatibility Wizard

Compatibility Catalog

Here is the master list at Micro§oft's website that tells you about products that work on Windows XP. you should be able to find your product here, if it works with windows XP.

Also, there is a compatibility feature on your Windows XP disc that will scan for programs that will not work in XP.

You can run these older apps in XP goto the program files directory and right click the app, I might be a little rusty here since I am on 2k. But anyhoot goto the properties for the app and there should be a tab somewhere I think in advanced if not somewhere else where there is an option to run programs for backward compatibility. If anyone can remember where it is that would be great.
