Question Help! I can't connect via broadband.

I have a Dell computer with windows xp operating system and had my internet installed through my cable company. My internet service is broadband. However, the tec showed me a message that said I have a missing driver. This particular driver is enabling my internet connection via broadband. However, I can connect via dial up, which is way to slow. Is there anything I can do from home to fix this problem.

Need more info, make ,model or motherboard if not sure get Belarc, copy and paste the report but leave out the win update section and the Software Licence section it gives your Win Product code
