no video controller

I have reinstalled windows xp and updated to sp3. I have no video controller and none on the list will work or install. If I try to install one from the list it says cannot confirm compatibility and will not start. The update wizard cannot find any softwear to update either. So I either have the dreaded yellow question mark or exclamation mark saying the driver instalation file is incomplete. Help please!

I would like to say I fixed the problem by going to the motherboard website and finding a VGA graphics download, (intel extreme graphics 2) this has solved the problem completely! Hope this is helpful.
