User Passwords

I purchased a used computer with Windows XP.....at start up, it has the previous owners user name (which is password protected)....how do I remove this without knowing the password?

Reboot windows XP, and hold down F8.

This should boot you into safe mode.
Or you need to select safe mode, it's been awhile since I've done it, anyway, when you boot into safe mode, go onto the secret admin side, and delete the password.

Recover the computer back to it's original factory settings, because if you log in, it could have personal or sensitive information.

You could download a password removal tool, but only for testing purposes and to delete any data (Unlikely now days)
