Please help with my sound

DirectX 4.09.00.0904 (DirectX 9.0c)
Operating System Microsoft Windows XP Professional
OS Service Pack Service Pack 3

Motherboard
BIOS Type AMI (07/05/04)
Communication Port ECP Printer Port(LPT1)
Communication Port Communication Port(COM1)
CPU Type Intel Pentium 4, 3000 MHz (15 x 200)
Motherboard Chipset Intel Breeds Hill i848P
Motherboard Name Asus P4P800S SE (5 PCI, 1 AGP, 2 DDR DIMM, Audio, LAN)
System Memory 1024 MB (PC3200 DDR SDRAM)

Display
3D Accelerator nVIDIA GeForce FX 5200
Video Adapter NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 (128 MB)

Multimedia
Audio Adapter Analog Devices AD1888 @ Intel 82801EB ICH5 - AC'97 Audio Controller [A-2/A-3]

Storage
Disk Drive ST3120026A (120 GB, 7200 RPM, Ultra-ATA/100)
IDE Controller Intel(R) 82801EB Ultra ATA Storage Controllers
Optical Drive ZS5070J BSI615N SCSI CdRom Device
Optical Drive LITE-ON COMBO SOHC-5232K (DVD:16x, CD:52x/32x/52x DVD-ROM/CD-RW)
SCSI/RAID Controller SPACE INT'L SCSI Host Adapter
SCSI/RAID Controller SCSI/RAID Host Controller

That's the summary of my computer.
I unplugged all the sounds and plugged it back in but still nothing.
So I Googled the problem but still have no idea. All the audio, sound option is grayed out and says something about no mixers available.
I went on to the ASUS website and downloaded the AD1985 Sound driver (googled and someone said this was the right driver) but when it gets to the end of installing , it says Driver not found.
Then, I tried to start the Windows Audio Service from services.msc but it says cannot start on local computer. Error 2
I started all the other components that helps start the windows audio service but still the same error.
I copied the audiosrv.dll into the system 32 hoping it would turn on the Windows audio service but still nothing.
I tried changing the account thing on the log-on tab to NT AUTHORITY/LocalService or system but still not working.
Also tried driver cleaner and installed driver but didn't work.
I've tried everything on the list and everything I googled. Is my only solution to format my comp :[.

Someone please help me fix my sound issue.

you need to check if audio is [Enabled] in the BIOS

all commands are done using the keyboard - print this off

as soon as comp boots press the <Delete> key
the Main menu opens
http://www.overclockeddoc.com/bookwo...800%20Main.JPG

use the right arrow key to select Advanced menu
http://www.overclockeddoc.com/bookwo...20Advanced.JPG

use down arrow key to select Onboard Device Configuration - press Enter key
http://www.overclockeddoc.com/bookwo...%20Devices.JPG

onboard AC97 audio should show [Auto]

if [Disabled] use down arrow to select

use the + key to change

press F10 key to Save & Exit

y key to accept changes

XP will load

if needed install audio driver

Set a System Restore Point before installing driver just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore – click radio button Create a restore point and follow instructions
