Unhappy Windows logo testing

Can anyone help ? I keep getting a message when I try to install internet explorer 6 that it doesn't pass windows logo testing. Is there anyway to turn the logo testing off ? Ive checked Microsoft knowledge base KB811263 and this didn't work.
The cryptographic service is on but this keeps happening. I really do not want to have to back up my hard drive and reboot windows in case anything else goes wrong ! Please help !!!

Thanks.

Windows logo testing

The PC is just a pentium3 e machine 996 Mhz intel celeron. I don't know any details re video card specs. Its not just a problem with Internet explorer 6 (although this is annoying me greatly!) it also throws up the logo testing failed on XP updates from Microsoft and other programs as well !
Thanks for your reply.

you may have to open up your computer case and look inside if you don't have the Mother Board manual to see what kind of chip set you have (i.e Intel 840, 845, ...) then go to this site (at the bottom of the page you will see the chip set family) and download the appoparit driver and istalled to get right of your problem:

From looking over the internet I can see a lot of people have had this problem, but theres no easy fix. Thanks for your suggestion snowmoney I will give it a try. I'll start looking for the old PC box to find out what the chip is !
