they are pertty much the same,, the reason you don't see them is becasue software develpoer got smarter and they don't want avarage user to remove it from start up by deleting the short cut so, they add it to the registry ,, you can remove it from there ,, here is the path,,,, please don't mess with registry if you don't know what you are doing,..

go to start /run and type "regedit"

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr ent version\ RUN anything you delete in that folder will not be at your startup any more

cheers

The Start Menu is a misnomer. It's just a shortcut to programs that are in All Programs. Your computer doesn't start-up with these programs running unless they're in your Start-up folder.

To find out what programs start at start-up, go to:
Start > Run > (type in) msconfig (click OK) > Start-up (tab)

Thanks a bundle guys!! And believe me, there is no way I am going near the registry. The mere thought sends shivers down my spine. I get in enough trouble just turning my computer on. I will forever wear the badge titled Novice. -- Denise

Hey guys, just wondering if you knew the difference from the startup in the registry and the startup in msconfig? I would think they would contain the same info but more often than not they are quit different.
