Can I also have some help too - I have gone through all the forums and threads and can't find an answer. I have spend months trying to fix it.

I had to reinstall Windows a few months ago and I don't have sound. In the "Audio and Sound Devices", all of the icons are greyed out in every tab. After looking at the Component Services - Windows Audio is already started.

I don't know a lot about my computers but I have Windows XP, my MOtherboard is a Gigabyte Sis-645 and the BIOS is Award Software.

If you need more information, can you let me know where I can find it. I'm sorry, I don't know a lot about computers and this looks like it is a good place to start.

Your machine has an MSI KT4V motherboard

the drivers for it are here
http://eu.msi.com/index.php?func=dow...=1&prod_no=505

Installing them should resolve your sound issues

Note that Windows update will install an incorrect C-Media driver on this board. You need the Realtek one from the MSI site
