Windows xp pro vs Vista

I'm going to buy a new cpu was wondering thoughts on should i go xp pro or vista 64 bit i never used vista before and everyone in home is so used to xp. i heard vista has lots of trouble and i may not like it . then again it comes with windows7 free upgrade . any thoughts or insight would be great ...

Really 2 gig of memory is required (1 gig minimum) ...or you will go mad while the H/D crunches away.

Don't install Vista. Stay on XP or try 7.

Might be an idea to figure out what a cpu is first ?
