Network Adapter Problem

I just built my PC and got XP running on it. When I first got it running I got it running good and had the internet on it, then I moved it up into my room and got an ethernet cable running from my router to my PC. But now my PC doesn't recognize the Network Adapter and I can't get on the internet. There isn't even a Network Adapter option on the device manager. I don't understand. By the way, the network adapter is onboard.

Did you check the BIOS and make sure that it is enabled? Stranger things have happened!

Sorry, I lied. I thought I had it fixed. But I just got it on the device manager now and it has the big yellow exclamation point on it. It doesn't work. I tried getting the new driver but it won't work. Plus it should work because I had the internet on it already the other day.

Check 'Device Manager' for IRQ conflicts.

how did you initially setup your system. did you hook it up to the router the first time or did you do a direct connection to your internet connection? Are you using a hub?
