THE SIMS 2 cd did not autorun, which file will start the autorun and install

Hello All.....
well im having a prob. Im using xp and i tried to install a game "THE SIMS 2"...the cd didnt autorun. I ran it manually by clicking on the cd rom. when i got in..i couldnt find the xact file which could start the autorun and install the game.I found one file..but it gave me that its .cfg file. Xp cudnt find the appropriate program to open this file.I got to know in this forum that i can open that file in MS word too. but i didnt try it coz i dun wana ruin the file anyway.
Is there anything anyone can tel me so i install the game.?
