no audio device

I don't know what I did, but my Toshiba satellite m45-s265 is not playing sound from movies or other media from the built in speakers. The button sounds still work though. I went to sounds and audio devices and have no audio device. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Soundmax driver here at Toshiba http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/t...ily=1073768663

select OS and sound

Set a System Restore Point before installing any drivers just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore – click radio button Create a restore point and follow instructions

No Audio device also I am flummoxed over this setback

Following you will find my Belarc Profile. I have truly tried so many things that I have read here and on other forums over the last 3 days and nothing has helped. I Have d/l my chipset from Biostar and the audio drivers separately and done a disable and then uninstall in my device manager as well as with all audio, games, etc.

I'm assuming you installed the chipset driver - then Restarted your comp - then installed the audio driver

Also that audio plugs are on the I/O plate and not in an Expansion slot - see here
http://www.overclockeddoc.com/bookwo...0io%20slot.JPG

you installed drivers from here
http://www.biostar-usa.com/mbdownloa...el=U8668%20PRO

check these to see if Via is default audio

Check Control Panel/ Sound & Audio Devices/ Audio tab/ Sound Playback click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be they something like "modem line 0 playback" might have been substituted for the proper audio device

check windows audio service

Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Component Services / a separate window will open – in left pane click Services(Local) from the tree / Scroll down to Windows Audio service / if the service is Disabled or Manual right click > select Properties > under Startup Type change to Automatic > click Apply / click Start > OK Reboot

let me know you will have to check the BIOS
