Sound Suddenly No-Show
Hello (again), guys.
So, I woke up, turned on my computer, and out of nowhere, a prompt popped up telling me something's wrong with the sound. Wary and not a little resigned, for I had had the same problem three or four years ago (which led me to this site, in fact), I opened one of my video files and lo' and behold, I heard nothing! Tried muting and unmuting, plugging in my earphones, stuck my ears embarrassingly close to the built-in speakers as possible--all to no avail. My iTunes experienced the same problem, too.
I've pretty much resigned myself to going to the shop tomorrow where I brought this notebook from and getting it fixed that way; they were so very helpful the last time I went there with my computer overcome with the Blue Screen of Death, which can go hang. (Turned out it was a problem with the BIOS, easily fixed by one of the comp whizzes in a jiffy, to my eternal befuddlement.)
For the record, I have Window XP (obviously) on an ASUS K40IN notebook. I have here a terribly long Everest report of my computer, which I won't put here until I'm told which portion to post. But here are some portions I thought may be relevant:

Also, I was wandering around My Computer and came upon Device Manager, and looked through it with an air of resignation and morbid curiosity. Perhaps this might help shed a light on my predicament: Under Sound, video and game controllers, all speaker icons are unmarred save for one, which is Realtek High Definition Audio. Its speaker icon has a yellow icon with an "!" inside it. I double-clicked it and a prompt window told me of the device's status: "This device cannot start. (Code 10)". Does this mean anything to anyone, for my plebeian brain cannot comprehend it?
Thanks very much.
