Question Installing Nero InCd Crashes XP-Pro

Here is my problem; on a new installation of Windows-Xp Pro
with Service-Pack 1a, installing InCd after installing Nero causes
a hard-crash of the entire system. I can recover only by restoring
an image-backup of the C:\ drive.

1. I have Disabled the Windows-Xp "built-in" CD-writing services,
both via the Control-Panel, Admin-Tools and via the "Properties"
page of the CD-Writer Drive.

2. I install Nero and re-boot the system; all is apparently OK.

3. I then install InCd, and re-boot. When the system boots, it
gets as far as displaying the desktop and splash-screens for
Zone-Alarm (firewall software) and InCd.

Then the system goes to a blue-screen hard crash. Ctrl-Alt-Del
does not work - must use the hardware Reset-button. If I let
the system try to boot after the hard-reset, it simply crashes again.

I've tried the installs both before and after disabling Windows-Xp
Cd-Burning Services; and with different versions of Nero (5.5.9.16
and 5.10.10.35) and InCd (the version on CD with Nero 5.5.9.16
and 4.0.1.6). All result in the same hard-crash.

Greywood / Dave, you have done a very good job of explaining what has happend with your computerand it seem like there is no question that problem is being caused by InCd,, why don't you wait for the new version of InCD to come out ? or send a bug report to them.

That was my two cents worth or less

cheers

Thanks, Snowmonkey.

I have also reported this to Ahead Software and hopefully they will respond. I have tried installing the latest version of InCd. This could be related to something else I've done with Xp, maybe on of the updates (I don't know). Other people seem to have no problems with Nero/InCd and Win-Xp, so it must be something I've done.
