Angry IE experiencing HEAVY LAG on certain sites

Since about a few weeks ago, IE lags heavily on certain sites.
For instance, this site is lagging right now, as well as other Forums, Lycos mail, and others which I can't think of right now.

Any idea what I can do to resolve this problem? It's really annoying me!

Thanks

Have you got an active firewall?

What are your security settings?

What is your privacy setting?

Clear out all your old Temporary Internet Files.

Clear out all your temp files.

Disable 'Automatic Updates'.

Well I don't have an active firewall at this time.
My Security settings are at the default levels, and my Privacy Setting is at Medium-High.
I deleted all my temp files and temp internet files and "automatic updates" isn't even on.
But I find it odd that only some specific sites are affected.

Which sites?

Post a few links (not online email) and I will check.

Are you on Dial UP or Broadband?

In IE Options > Advanced remove checks from ...

Enable off line items to be synchronised on a schedule.

Enable page transitions.

Enable visual styles on buttons and controls in web pages.

Play animations.

Play sounds.

Play videos.

Smart Image dithering

No, I have HighSpeed DSL.

Here are a few sites where I noticed lots of lag:

www.softwaretipsanstricks.com
www.dvdtalk.com
www.dvdfile.com
www.allspark.com
www.2005boards.com
www.damnyouall.net
www.nohomers.net
www.futureshop.ca
as i said it really affects forums sites.
I even got help from a friend and he's as baffled as I am.

Just a guess - have you got one of these download accelerators on your system, the ones that retrieve page links and caches them in the background ready for viewing?

Smile

Yes Lewis, I am still a Transformers fan

Well I do use Download Accelerator(DAP) from time to time for big downloads. You think that could be affecting the lags on some sites? oh BTW, I did change those settings that you suggested changing.
