Problem sharing files on my network

I am set up on a Comcast Cable setup. There is a hub that connects to a modem and spreads the connetion directly from there all the computers in my home. I "Set up a home or small office network" under my network places // network tasks. I then set it up so that every computer connects directly to the internet and made it all the same workgroup of kim since that is our family name. When i share out a file it does not show up on my other computers "my network places". Do i have my network improperly setup??

Do all your computers have "Client for Microsoft Networks" and "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft" setup in the network control panel?

if you are looking for network drive , then you have to type it this way "\\computername\shareddirectory" but that is beside the point. Question: what operating system are all the computer running ? what protocol are you using to network tyour computers ? Have you tried pinging the other computers ? Is your cabeling done right ? How are the wires crimped on the end(Straight through of inversed)?

cheers
