Unhappy Ivalid BOOT.INI file message at startup

When starting up, XP started to display the message "Invalid BOOT.INI file. Booting from C:\windows" But everything is fine, starts up normally, but of course the boot.ini file is also inaccessible. Does it affect anything in any way??? It just began to appear after some time, at first there was no such message. How can I fix the boot.ini file?

Your hard drive boot sector may have become corrupted. You should schedule chqdsk to run and see if it finds any errors. You may also need to repair the xp boot loader or mbr. If you are not comfortable with the repair details, do not worry about the message. The chances are good that no other problems will develope. I also lived with this error message for a long time under different circumstances. Here is more info on how to fix it.

I disagree. I think this problem is easily solved. Right click on My computer->Advanced->Startup and recovery settings. Click on the Edit button to edit boot.ini manually. If your windows installation is c:\windows, the boot.ini file should look like this:

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOW S
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Micro soft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect

Save it like that and it should fix your problem.

lets see...

Actually I thought I needed a correct boot file entry, but of course hadn't any idea how it should look like. I'll try this one out...lets see what happens

But thanks again anyway
