My Network Places

Hi guys,

In My Network Places>>entire network>>domain all the PC's connected, servers etc etc are showing up as:
(Computer Description)(Computer Name).

eg ACER270 (room4_pc3)

Is it at all possible to get rid of Computer Description and just show Computer Name when viewing them in My network places.

thanks

RH

Not from your computer, but you can.

These are generated by the Domain Controller server in the computer accounts area or by the individual local computer. If you remove the descriptions from both of these, then you will only get the name.

Hi moman,

Thanks for the reply, but in a school with 1000 students + teachers, that isn't going to work. I'm hoping there is an option somewhere, be it a real option or a reg hack to not show it.

My work mate only gets the Computername showing on his and he's running XP, but he can't recal changing anything to only display that.
