how to convert .doc to .asx

Hi,
I received an email with a ms word attachement (.doc) and was told not to open it in word (.doc) but CONVERT it to .asx format (in notepad it said).
I am stuck what to do in order to view this file with media player I guess - or how to find the url or in fact, just how to convert it.
Any help appreciated.

If you are positive the attached file is free from malicious code ...

open the file in Word and then save as *.txt

Rename the file to *.asx

Use Media Player to view the file - you will need a connection to the server storing the file.
