RPC worm, PC won't let me download patches

Okay, I have the dreaded worm which states the system will shut down in 60 seconds. I have managed to stop this by using the temporary fix sited by playboy. However my system simply won't allow me to download any patches, it just doesn't do anything, won't allow me to update virus protection, won't allow me to turn xp firewall on. Has any one got any ideas. Can this worm be that sophisticated?

Both the Microsoft patch and the Symantec removal tool are small enough to fit on a floppy. See if you can find someone with a clean computer who can download these for you so that you can install them from the floppy.
