XP Pro computer keeps restarting......

Hello All,

My XP Pro computer keeps restarting after I log in. It always does it about 10-15 seconds after I log in as its loading stuff into the system tray.

I'm running Norton Antivirus and Zone Alarm Pro 3.0.

I thought the cause of this was the MSblast worm so I downloaded the fixblast.exe from Symantec and I updated my virus definitions and also downloaded the patches from the MS update site.

I also manually searched for the MSblast.exe file and checked to see if it was running as a process and didn't find either one.

Even after doing all this my computer still restarts after I log in. I can startup in safe mode with no problem.

Does someone have any other ideas what may be causing this problem.

Thanks,
sfgman

does it ask you, or give you any warning b efore it shuts down ? or does it just go blank ?

go into your CONTROL PANEL , then go to ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS, then go into EVENT VIEWER then go into SYTSTEM LOGS , then you should notice different errors on the list, look at the exact time that your computer shuts down and look at the corresponding error associated with it.. this applies for many problems...

There is the blue screen that comes up right before it restarts but it goes away so fast there's no time to see what it says.

I'm at a friend's house tonight so I won't get a chance to check the event log but I'll post whatever that shows tomorrow.

I'm also going to uncheck the "Automatically Restart" after system errors button so I can check whatever the blue screen shows.

Thanks

Hey,
I'd like to say that I have the same problem. I think it might have came from a virus from the "Decide Online Game" that I've just installed. And I'm no expert when it comes to these things so I'm wondering if you could help me please. Much would be appreciated. =(
