Freezing on Startup, Unable to boot safe mode.

I have a computer that is old as dirt. This morning it froze, so I did a hard shut down and every time I went to reboot it it would freeze on the screen with the windows logo and the bar. So I went to boot in safe mode, but every time I did, it would go thorough the file list loading into safe mode, but then it would just reboot and start over at the first screen. My computer automatically does a memory test on start up and everything checked out fine. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hopefully you saved all/most of yr data-files externally ( ...?...), but just maybe it's time to visit the PC builder and buy new with whatever Win OS appeals. Win7 seems to be pretty stable, and Win8 appears to offer touch-screen features, but little else IMHO..... but it should be "current" for longer if the price is the same....

Scour these forums for a general opinion of the OS available.

Of course, you could visit a friendly PC Repairer -

I too use an Old PC with WinXP - and it's good for printing (on an old printer that takes cheap cartridge refills) - and emails, but for any video-editing I really need Quad-core Win7 and a modern Editor.

Good Luck.

Your hard drive is faulty. Replace it and reinstall the OS.
