File extension display

Using XP home
Rather than just seeing Video file, Windows media file, Windows audio file e.t.c. How can I get it to display the actual file extensions instead eg. mpeg1, mp3, avi and so on?

go to any folder, the click on Tools /Folder Option / View/ and un tick the option that says " Hide File Extension for Known File Type"
