VGA Mode Question

Hi, I have a 2 part question.
1) Is there a way to switch to VGA mode without rebooting (I am fully aware of rebooting then f8...)

2) I have some games that only work when I boot in VGA mode. The problem is that for some of them, as they open Windows XP reverts back to normal mode. I can continue and play once (untill I quit the game), but if I close it then I am back in normal mode and to play again I have to reboot in VGA mode. Any suggestions on what to do.
I have already gone into display settings (while in normal mode) and switched them to 640x800 and 256 colors (which is what VGA mode opens with) but this doesn't resolve the running problems, only rebooting in VGA mode does.

Thanks, Nate

Find the Executable file (*.exe) for the game ...

Right Click the file > Properties > Compatibility and set up the game from there.

What are the actual games that cause the problems?

The games are non-commercial releases made using game maker, c++, etc. They used to work but now they don't unless I reboot in VGA mode very time.

Thanks, Nate

Did they work with XP?

Have you installed any new device drivers recently?

Did they work with Win 9X / ME?

It worked under XP and I have not made any major changes. I don't know why they stopped working.
Thanks, Nate
