DOS Programms on xp

Windows Xp seem to terminate DOS programmes automaticly after they are "finished". This usually occurs in simple programs, witch XP closes imidiently. Sometimes I can`t read anything beacuse the program pops up and closes again in under a second. On Win98 if I remember correctly, you have to close the command window manually, withc is something I am comfirtable with. I hope there is a way to configure this.

Please help me

No. I know how to start the Command Prompt.
The problem lies in the programs that use the dos console.
For example, a small prog I made while trying to learn C++:

The console pops up and asks you a question.
It works fine as long as your supposed to type. When I press enter It`s supposed to say if you were right or wrong, and it does. But I `can`t read it because the program closes so fast just after I pressed enter. And yes, this happens to other programs too.

Thanks for trying though.

DOS XP problem

Hi Zvuv!

Did u try invoking your console program from an already opened command prompt-window, rather than from the win-GUI ?

As XP is not based on dos, thank God! Most dos programs will not work on the desktop. Some do of course, but if the window closed immediately, then a dos boot disk is the order of the day i would think.

Ajitcs is right. What's happening Zvuv is that when the program sends the signal that it's finished, Windows assumes that you're done with it and closes the window. Open a Dos prompt and run the program from there if you want the window to stay open.
