XP : Hard disk slow perf

via 4in1 4.43 whql
amd 1.2 (133)
1 Go SDRAM
Geforce3
2xHDD IDE UDMA66

Hi,
i have some trouble with hdd access from i have setup dma66 on register and xp devices panel + setup via 4in1 4.33 whql

Do you have this trouble for the same parameters ?

Have you some suggests ?

In result of this problem, my CPU is on 85% when i burned on my yamaha 16x and burning failed at 4x (very slow disk!!)

make sure your hard drive is running in UDMA mode and NOT pio mode.

check here....

right click my computer and select properties then hardware then device manager then IDE ata/atapi controllers, then if your hard drive in on your primary IDE channel (which it probably is) right click that and select properties then click on advanced settings tab, then see what it says for current transer mode.

yep ... on the devices tab, my hdd's are on pio mode, but i have choose the DMA auto on onglet ....


So What can i do ?

well do this.... right click that primary ide channel and click on uninstall.... after it does that (which might take a couple minutes) reboot your pc, once windows loads up it will redetect it and should be back in UDMA mode..... this is what i did to fix mine when it somehow got stuck in PIO mode.
