Windows XP file transfer problems

OS: Windows XP Pro, w/ SP1 installed

Ok, since i reformatted my computer, i have been unable to send/receive files over the internet... i can download fine, but i cant send/recieve files from other people. For example, i get an email with an attachment and i cannot save it to disk or open it... Also in MSN messanger, i cannot end/receive files from or to anybody... and in one of my video games (Madden 2003) i cannot host games because people say they are unable to join it...

I have no router, no software firewall, and the win XP default firewall is off... It is as if i have a firewall running but i dont acctually have one... any suggestions.

P.S. ive heard there are quite a few other people with this same problem.

well if you mean you cannot save files that u get in email that are in outlook express try checking this first.....

open outlook express then goto tools,options,security and make sure that the "do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus" is NOT checked.

other than this... i dont really know of anythign else off the top of my head that could be causeing this.

p.s. if you uninstall SP1 does this problem still happen?

ya the emails work now.. just not everything else and i installed sp1 and no luck
