Unhappy Very Weird LAN Problem

Hello
I was wandering if anyone can help me with this weird networking problem I am experiencing.
From the desktop I go to:
My Network Places:
In the local network view plane I can see all the other networked computers hard drives and files with no problems when using them:
Then I go to View network connections:
Under the LAN or high-speed internet there is nothing, the local area connection icon isn’t there even though the LAN is working fine, I want to be able to install ICS, the other computers on the LAN are already setup for this.
When I click : Setup a Home or Small Office Network, nothing happens no wizard or anything..
Has anyone had this problem before if so can they help me fix this annoying problem

Many thanks in advance
Ali

few questions:
IS this a office computer or Home ? are you logging into a domain server ? Have you been playing around with Local Security Policy ? When did this started ? Have you done any MS update recently ?

cheers

Router

My advice to you is first of all to use a router, don't trust windows ICS. Its the worst. Second, try uninstalling your Ethernet card and then reinstalling it. If that doesn't work let us know.
