Angry Can't send page, link in email

When I click on the IE 6.0 mail icon and select SEND A LINK or SEND A PAGE, a Windows Messaging Setup Wizard screen opens. This is weird, because Outlook Express is the email program designated in TOOLS/INTERNET OPTIONS/PROGRAMS. The Windows Messaging Setup Wizard window has a CorelCentral profile listed and checked. I have no idea how a Corel program is listed, but clicking on NEXT results in an error screen which advises that the .dll doesn't exist. Returning to the Wizard, any attempt to manually enter a profile derives the same error message. What am I missing???? I need to send web pages and links in emails, which I could do in aol. But I'm loathe to return to that monster just to achieve this capability.

THANKS !!

• Remove windows messenger
Start/Run, type: rundll32 setupapi,InstallHinfSection BLC.Remove 128 %SystemRoot%\INF\msmsgs.inf

• No ads in Messenger
1) Find links.txt. Can be in program files/messenger or in documents and settings/[username], use the search tool.
2) Open the file, delete its contents, save the empty file.
3) Right-click the file, hit properties, set to read only.

• No warning message in Messenger
To remove the 'Never give out your password or credit card number' warning whenever you open a chat session, search for IMWarning in regedit (usual location: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\MessengerService\Policies) and edit or delete the IMWarning string.
Tip: you can put smilies in the warning message.

• Stop Messenger from auto-starting when you visit hotmail or other MSN sites
Go to Internet Options/Security/Internet/Custom Level, find 'Run ActiveX control and Plug-ins', choose Disable or Prompt.

Uninstall "Hidden" Windows Components
Apparently, Microsoft didn't want you to be able to remove useless garbage like Windows Messenger. It's installed by default, and it doesn't appear in the Add/Remove Program applet in Control Panel.

Thankfully, you can force the issue by editing the SYSOC.INF file, which is located in the C:\WINDOWS [or your Windows XP directory]\INF folder. Open it with Notepad.

Under the [Components] heading, you'll see a whole bunch of parameters for various Windows applets. Some of them contain the word "hide." Those particular programs, which include Windows Messenger (msmsgs), Terminal Server, Pinball, and others, are installed on your XP system, but their entries are hidden from and Add/Remove dialog.

To remove Windows Messenger, edit hide out of the line that reads

msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,hide,7

so that it looks like this:

msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,7

Save the file, close it, and open the Add/Remove Program applet. Click on Windows Components button and you'll see Windows Messenger listed. Uncheck it and click Next to purge that silly program from your system.

Feel free to edit hide everywhere it appears in the SYSOC.INF file to reveal other removable Windows XP components.

Right-click My Computer and click Manage to bring up the Computer Management console. On the left pane, select Services under Services and Applications to control all installed services.

Similarly, you may have no use for services such as Messenger, Portable Media Serial Number, Themes, etc.

Shoot The Messenger
Simple Messenger Service Disable/Enable

Windows NT, 2000, and XP hide an hidden Internet server that is running by default. It receives and accepts, among other things, unsolicited network messages that cause pop-up dialog boxes to appear on the desktop. Internet Spammers have discovered this and are spraying pop-up Spam across the Internet. The Windows Messenger server should never have been running by default, and Microsoft has finally fixed that in Windows 2003, but users of previous Windows need to take responsibility for this themselves.

Goto Start click Run. In the Run box enter in the following string:
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\inf\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove
Then the normal uninstall process will be presented to you and BLAAAM! it's gone bye-bye. :-)

This tweak is used to remove MSN Instant Messenger functionality and integration from Outlook Express.
Open your registry and find the key below. You may need to create the key, if it does not already exist.

Create a new DWORD value, or modify the existing value, called 'Hide Messenger' and edit the value according to the settings below.

Exit your registry, you may need to restart or log out of Windows for the change to take effect.

(Default) REG_SZ (value not set)
Hide Messenger REG_DWORD 0x00000002 (2)

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Outlook Express

Registry Settings
System Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Outlook Express]
Value Name: Hide Messenger
Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)
Value Data: (2 = remove messenger)

If the key is not there, you can create it yourself. It will still work.

Type regedit at the "run" line.
In the registry window, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Outlook Express.
Once you're there, go to "edit" at the top of the screen. Then select "new" then "key."
Then just set the values to:
Value Name: Hide Messenger
Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)
Value Data: (2 = remove messenger)

Tip: Outlook Express Runs Slowly after Disabling/Removing Messenger. Only 3 Registry edits are required to stop Messenger and get rid of the delay in OE.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Mes senger\Client. Add the following values as New, DWord Values: PreventRun, PreventAutoRun. Set the value of each of these to1. Then go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Outlook Express

Add a New, DWord value called Hide Messenger and set the value to 2. (This step is required to prevent a long delay when opening OE with the Contacts pane enabled).

Start/Run/Regedit

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{FB7199A B-79BF-11d2-8D94-0000F875C541}\InProcServer32

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{FB7199A B-79BF-11d2-8D94-0000F875C541}\LocalServer32

For both, in the right pane, right click Default/Modify/Delete the value data.

Sometimes a program, bad driver or conflicts that destroy or corrupt files will necessitate a reinstallation. WinXP will replace damaged or corrupted files without disturbing your data or registry settings so that these will still be available to you.

1. Boot from the WinXP CD
2. Select set up WinXP(ENTER)
3. Windows will find an existing copy of itself and give you the option to repair the highlighted installation
4. WinXP will copy the necessary files to your HD and install

• Reinstall XP and keep all your current installed applications and settings .
Go to the location of your source files {could be a copy of the I386 folder on your hard disk or the Windows XP CD} .
