Video/Audio Player freezes, media still plays

Hello, I was wondering if anybody had this problem or knew how to fix it:

Recently I have had a problem with Windows Media Player and the Kazaa Media Player. Whenever I play an audio file or video file, the program freezes up, and my mouse wont do anything except close with the X or down at the taskbar (and even then it gives me the End Now or Cancel message). The wiered thing is that the programs will continue to play through the media and then stop. WMP wont play the next thing on a playlist either. This really sucks for ovious reasons and that I cant listen to my huge MP3 playlists on my stereo.

Note: I have recently updated my M-Audio Delta card driver which is not digitally signed by Microsoft, but I have never had a problem with the card previously. I also tried rolling back the driver, no help.

Ace DivX Player is the best Windows Media Player replacement program, it plays movie and music in formats including DivX, AVI, MPEG, WMV, ASF, MP3, CD and Video-CD.
What Ace DivX Player offers you is what a handy movie and music player really should does: Powerful Playlist, Freely resize movie window and full-screen playback with on
screen controls.

Ace DivX Player doesnīt contact the Internet each time you load and play a file. Itīs safe!

Well I have already posted about that very issue, I cant get the update because (not only is my computer seriously screwed up right now, but) the windows update v4 says I have to be an administrator to install the new software. But I am an admin (the only user for this computer).

I would try the ace thing, but Im having problems playing stuff in Kazaa as well, which leads me to believe that it has nothing to do with the player itself.

At this point Im pretty sure that this is all a result from me having updated my audio card driver, but I have no idea what actually happened that makes me have these problems (win update and music/video playback).

Sometimes a program, bad driver or conflicts that destroy or corrupt files will necessitate a reinstallation. WinXP will replace damaged or corrupted files without disturbing your data or registry settings so that these will still be available to you.

1. Boot from the WinXP CD
2. Select set up WinXP(ENTER)
3. Windows will find an existing copy of itself and give you the option to repair the highlighted installation
4. WinXP will copy the necessary files to your HD and install

• Reinstall XP and keep all your current installed applications and settings .
Go to the location of your source files {could be a copy of the I386 folder on your hard disk or the Windows XP CD} .
