Question Upgrade to XP and updating NIC drivers is not possible at the same time

I have Compaq Evo D300 with Network card: Intel(R) PRO/100 VM Network Connection.

I need to have fully unattended upgrade from W2k to Windows XP.
The problem i have is that after finishing upgrade using parameter "NTUPGRADE = Yes" it asks for NIC for Windows XP driver (since the W2K Network driver is not compatiple with XP).

I tried to add parameter "OEMPreInstall=Yes" to the unattended.txt file with $OEM$\$1 folder which contains the XP driver files for NIC but failed.

I got from Microsoft that parameters NTUPGRADE & OEMPreInstall cant have Yes value at the same time.

Please how I can have unattended upgrade to XP 100% i.e. it will also update the NIC driver or at least complete the upgrade using generic driver????

I am having a similar problem with my unattended install of Windows XP. I have followed many tutorials and I believe I have everything setup correctly, but the Intel Pro driver causes the fully automated install to stop and ask for a driver.

Did you find a solution?I would greatly appreciate some help.

they recently added a windows update to dis device, so i guess u'll need a relatively new cd to do an automated install, coz earlier it wasnt fully supported by xp, gav me a few problems as well.

The drivers.cab file seems to have the files I need, but the setup program does not pick them up and subsequently stops the unattended install. I have tried using the $oem$ folders specified in a few unattended tutorials. The problem with that was that after the install finished the temp folders created were still there.

I am having the exact same problem with the nic driver. I've read every Microsoft doc and have gotten creative to force the nic driver to no avail. Did anyone come up with a solution?
