Windows xp pro to home

I have windows xp pro but i want to go to home.
i tryed, it says it cant do a upgrade so it tryed to do a new instal.
It got so far then said that ti was goin to try and install it on a hard drive with an operating system already on there(Pro).
It said doinh this would cause proplems with the operating system already there.
But i dont want 2 os's i just want home.
How do i get rid of pro and instal home without losing my things(Games, programs, pic's mp3's etc.)??

Any help would be great.

Cheers.

Mistake 81,

Simple: back up your files and reprogram your computer from scratch. There "aint" no other way -- to do it without other potiential problems.

This is risky but if you don't want to back up you could install home into a different directory. I would NEVER recommend doing this though, it can get REALLY messy.

I agree with TAB. Backup everything that you want to save and start over with a fresh, clean install of XP Home.

Well it's like this....

I messed about with my pc when i shouldn't(I shouldn't cos i know shit all about computers) and lot's of think started goin wrong, so my mate mate said let's start again.
Wiped tha hard drive clean, reinstall everything and ntohing worked write so my mate got rid of home and put on a copyed verson of pro and everything was fine.
Now though i can't update my windows cos microsoft notices it not a proper verson.
Now i have internet i think i can download any driver's i need for what was goin wrong i'd like to go back to my proper verson of windows home.

There really is nothing wrong with pro unless like me you have a copyed verson.
