Question Command Prompt default

In both Windows XP Pro and Home Edition, when you open the Command Shell (DOS prompt), the command line defaults to something like "C:\Documents and Settings\<username>".
Is there a way to reset this so that only the "C:\" prompt shows up? I hate having to constantly 'CD' out of the directories to get back to the 'C:\' prompt!
I've tried resetting %HOMEPATH% in the 'Volatile Environment' settings of the Registry, but this has no effect.
Thanks for any assistance!

You could use the"command prompt here" powertool from Microsofts site.
Gives you the option to start a command prompt in any folder by right click.

Thanks for the tip. I'm sure this is a useful tool, but I do a lot of command line stuff, such as compiling programs and running NT scripts which require me to constantly re-open the Command Prompt window (I know - it's actually cmd.exe running).
It's just very inconvenient to have to keep getting rid of the excess verbiage so I can do my work! I have tried creating a new desktop shortcut for the command prompt window, but that only works for a little while and then something in the system tells it it should be using my user profile or something.
So, instead of being "C:\", it is "C:\Documents and Settings\<userid>".

Open Help and Support, search for "command prompt", mentions the prompt command to change...the prompt.
