You will need to buy and install a second network card for your pc.. connect the laptop to your pc with a crossover cable & use the original network card as you do now to connect to the internet.

Or you could just save the hassle.. swallow your pride. and buy the man a drink then ask him ever so politely if you could use another port on his router until there comes a time that he needs it for himself
He's let you have one.. so chances are he'll be fine

norris_309, has the right idea about getting another network card but that is not all.
If you guys are going to help someone please take your time and explaine all the pros and cons to the users, if not you/we are going to confuse them even more then ever !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NOKEVIN, getting another network card is not going to solve it all. You will need to setup the Internet connection sharing on your computer so your Laptop could use the desktop as a bridg to access internet. There is going to be a Problem with that setup. When you enable ICS on your computer it will start the DHCP services and since you are on a router that mean the router is running DHCP already and the two DHCP servers will have conflict which will piss your beighbour off.

There are two solutions:
1- Ask the guy next door if you could have another drop (as norris_95 said )

2- you will net to get a network switch of your own on the top of the network card that you have to purchase so your two computer could stay on their own neywork subnet.

If you decide to purchase a Switch please reply back and we will try to help you out.

cheers
