See if this helps .

Change the BIOS settings for ACPI Aware OS to Yes .

And Power Management to "Enabled".

Hi, I am having the same problem suddenly on my PC but I do not understand your fix suggestion.

Where exactly do I change power management to "Enabled"?

Thanks.

Right. I checked the BIOS and there was nothing under the POWER tab to ENABLE power options; neither did any option tally with what you mentioned about ACPI Awareness.

This greying out of the power options in XP has occurred only recently, so I can't see how the BIOS has changed. I am the only user on the system and I have not touched it.

Can you help? Otherwise should I post a fresh new topic?

Thanks.

Start > Control Panel > Power Options
APM.
Advanced Power Management.
Tick > Enable Advanced Power Management support.

Wouldn't hurt.

Have you enabled Terminal Services? If so the options are not available.

Well, I haven't disabled Terminal Services.

How can I check to see if Terminal Services are enabled or not?
