Nforce 2 AGP bus driver incompatible with XP?

I have been having problems for a week with a mysterious error:

"Windows - Delayed write failed Windows was unable to save all the data for the file (c:\windows) The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Save elsewhere."

After installing every manner of driver for my motherboard and graphics driver, I found that disabling the AGP to PCI bridge in the device manager solved the problem. Any ideas on why this is a problem?
